<p>First published in 1989. <i>Harvest of Thorns</i> is set in Rhodesia in the 1960s and 70s, following the Rhodesian Bush War and the emersion of Zimbabwe as an independent country.</p>

<p><i>Harvest of Thorns</i> won the 1990 Commonwealth Writers Regional Prize. It became an O-Level literature text for Zimbabwe in the 1990s and was taught in universities and colleges worldwide.</p>

<p>Chinodya was further awarded the 2007 NOMA prize for publishing in Africa for his novel <i>Strife</i>. His short story, 'Can We Talk', was also shortlisted for The Caine Prize for African Writing in 2000.</p>
